Summary: The objective of this research is to point out ways for a decolonial ecumenical theology in Latin America. Despite the positive reception of ecumenical theology from other latitudes, it is necessary to develop a theological justification for the ecumenical cause on the continent, identifying its challenges, possibilities, subjects and perspectives for understanding ecumenism. Ecumenical thinking suffers colonizing processes if it is not contextualized in local social and religious realities. The research method is the qualitative analysis of the continent's ecumenical bibliography, dialoguing with the theology of other regions. The conclusion is that understanding ecumenism in Latin America requires its own epistemic structure, with a review of categories, languages and core theological treatises of the Christian faith, in relation to the pluralism of cultures and creeds existing in the continent.

A pesar de la recepción positiva de la teología ecuménica desde otras latitudes, es necesario desarrollar una justificación teológica de la causa ecuménica en el continente, identificando sus desafíos, posibilidades, temas y perspectivas para comprender el ecumenismo. El pensamiento ecuménico sufre procesos colonizadores si no se contextualiza en las realidades sociales y religiosas locales. El método de investigación es el análisis cualitativo de la bibliografía ecuménica del continente, dialogando con la teología de otras regiones. La conclusión es que comprender el ecumenismo en América Latina requiere una estructura epistémica propia, con una revisión de categorías, lenguajes y tratados teológicos centrales de la fe cristiana, en relación con el pluralismo de culturas y credos existentes en el continente.L’obiettivo di questa ricerca è quello di indicare le vie per una teologia ecumenica decoloniale in America Latina. Nonostante l’accoglienza positiva della teologia ecumenica proveniente da altre latitudini, è necessario sviluppare una giustificazione teologica per la causa ecumenica nel continente, identificandone le sfide, le possibilità, i temi e le prospettive per comprendere l’ecumenismo. Il pensiero ecumenico soffre processi di colonizzazione se non è contestualizzato nelle realtà sociali e religiose locali. Il metodo di ricerca è l'analisi qualitativa della bibliografia ecumenica del continente, dialogando con la teologia di altre regioni. La conclusione è che comprendere l’ecumenismo in America Latina richiede una sua struttura epistemica, con una revisione delle categorie, dei linguaggi e dei trattati teologici fondamentali della fede cristiana, in relazione al pluralismo delle culture e dei credi esistenti nel continente.O objetivo desta pesquisa é apontar caminhos para uma teologia ecumênica decolonial na América Latina. Não obstante ser positiva a acolhida da teologia ecumênica de outras latitudes, é necessário desenvolver uma justificativa teológica da causa ecumênica no continente, identificando seus desafios, possibilidades, sujeitos e perspectivas de compreensão do ecumenismo. O pensar ecumênico sofre processos colonizadores se não for contextualizado nas realidades sociais e religiosas locais. O método da pesquisa é a análise qualitativa da bibliografia ecumênica do continente, dialogando com a teologia de outras regiões.
