This paper presents and analyzes the representations about spirituality present in the reports of women who use substances who seek shelter in therapeutic communities (TCs) with a religious profile. The data observed come from a semi-structured origin carried out during the second half of 2020 with women in two TC's, one of them with a charismatic Catholic profile and the other linked to an a historic protestantism church. The leaders of these institutions were also heard with the intention of obtaining information about the way religion and spirituality are studied and articulated in the method by these TCs. The main conclusion of this work indicates that the institutional disciplines applied to keep these women away from substance use are based on religious narratives that are often re-signified by these women through their own subjective practices throughout their stay in the TC. Still, it should be emphasized that the spirituality experienced by the interviewees seems, in some situations, to confront institutional guidelines.
