Resumo: The main objective of the article is to analyze the Catholic missionary company in the province of Québec (Canada) towards Latin America and Brazil in the middle of the 20th century. It focuses specifically on the first movements in the 1950s, reconstructing its trajectory in a his-torical-descriptive perspective. Reflecting a shift in the Catholic mission under transformation in the universal Church, dioceses began to play an increasingly central role in intercontinental missions at that time. From this call, the first missionaries to the northeast region of Brazil, Maranhão, leave the province of Canada, more precisely. In addition to bibliographic studies, the article was based mainly on the study of primary sources, unprecedented in Brazil, re-searched in the Archives of the Nicolet Seminary, in the province of Québec, Canada.

Se centra específi-camente en los primeros movimientos de la década de 1950, reconstruyendo su trayectoria en una perspectiva histórico-descriptiva. Como reflejo de un cambio en la misión católica en transformación en la Iglesia universal, las diócesis comenzaron a desempeñar un papel cada vez más central en las misiones intercontinentales en ese momento. A partir de este llamado, los primeros misioneros de la región noreste de Brasil, Maranhão, abandonan la provincia de Canadá, más precisamente. Además de los estudios bibliográficos, el artículo se basó princi-palmente en el estudio de fuentes primarias, inéditas en Brasil, investigadas en los Archivos del Seminario de Nicolet, en la provincia de Québec, Canadá.O artigo tem como objetivo principal analisar a empresa missionária católica da província de Québec (Canadá) em direção à América Latina e Brasil em meados do século XX. Concentra-se especificamente nos primeiros movimentos na década de 1950, reconstruindo em perspec-tiva histórico-descritiva a sua trajetória. Refletindo um deslocamento da missão católica em transformação na Igreja universal, as dioceses passaram a desempenhar naquele período um papel cada vez mais central nas missões intercontinentais. A partir deste chamado, partem da província de Québec, no Canadá, os primeiros missionários para a região nordeste do Brasil, Maranhão, mais precisamente.
