Resumo: Although Erico Verissimo’s novels are not epistolary strict sense, the letter appears as an important element in the structure of writer’s fictional work. In this article we intend to show that, as a narrative feature, these letters reveal not only the depths of the characters, but also introduce historical and social issues which are relevant to the literary representation. As theoretical orientation we work with the notes of Watt (2010) and Lajolo (2002).
