“It’s black, it’s fag and it depends on the club’s allowance”: Intersections of the difference in the context of the sport

Resumo: This article seeks to discuss narratives produced with young volleyball athletes from basic categories and to problematize in their statements the intersection of identifications of masculinity, sexual orientation, youth and race. We propões a dialogue between the intersectional approach and post-foundational studies as theoretical and methodological contributions, according to Sirma Bilge, Leonor Arfuch and Judith Butler. Among the results, young athletes reported how their identifications are socially performatized when reverberating discrimination and the inferiorization of their bodies by race, class and sexual orientation markers. The intersection of these identifications materialized their masculinities as dissenting from the norms of whiteness and cisheteronormativity in the context of sport.

Proponemos un diálogo entre el enfoque interseccional y los estudios posfundacionales como aportes teóricos y metodológicos, según Sirma Bilge, Leonor Arfuch y Judith Butler. Entre los resultados, los atletas jóvenes informaron cómo sus identificaciones se performatizan socialmente al reverberar la discriminación y la inferiorización de sus cuerpos por marcadores de raza, clase y orientación sexual. La intersección de estas identificaciones materializó sus masculinidades como disidentes de las normas de blancura y cisheteronormatividad en el contexto del deporte. Busca-se neste artigo discutir narrativas produzidas com jovens atletas de voleibol de categorias de base e problematizar em suas enunciações a intersecção das identificações da masculinidade, orientação sexual, juventude e raça. Propomos o diálogo entre a abordagem interseccional e os estudos pós-fundacionais como aportes teórico-metodológicos, conforme Sirma Bilge, Leonor Arfuch e Judith Butler. Entre os resultados, os jovens atletas relataram como suas identificações são performatizadas socialmente ao reverberar a discriminação e a inferiorização de seus corpos por marcadores de raça, classe e orientação sexual.
