Institutionalization of the subject of History of Education in the Normal School of Minas Gerais in the first half of the 20th century

Resumo: This study presents the results of investigation regarding the emergence, constitution and institutionalization of the History of Education as a school subject in teacher education courses. In this case, the process of introduction of the subject in the teacher normal school courses of Minas Gerais, as of Decree 8.162 of January 20, 1928 and its regulation, is examined, enacted during the government of Antônio Carlos Ribeiro de Andrada, with Francisco Campos serving as secretary at the time. This process of institutionalization of the subject occurred in the midst of a context of educational reforms in Minas Gerais, but which also were about to occur in other Brazilian states under the significant influence of the New School principles, as well as of the form taken by teacher education, especially in Europe and in the United States. Sources include educational legislation in Minas Gerais in the period and the existing reference bibliography.

Nesse caso, examina-se o processo de introdução da disciplina nos cursos normais mineiros, a partir do Decreto 8162, de 20 de janeiro de 1928, e de seus regulamentos, instituídos durante o governo de Antônio Carlos Ribeiro de Andrada, que, à época, fora secretariado por Francisco Campos. Esse processo de institucionalização da disciplina ocorreu em meio a um contexto de reformas educacionais em Minas Gerais, que também estavam por acontecer em outros estados brasileiros, sob a influência significativa dos princípios escolanovistas e da forma tomada pela formação de professores, em especial, na Europa e nos Estados Unidos.
