To prepare to adopt? Reflections on the orientation of families in the practice of adoption

Resumo: The objective of this article is to analyze, from the legal context of adoption in Brazil, some elements present in the forces at play in which the practice of preparing the families that intend to adopt is built, giving prominence to the orientation activities made by psychologists to these suitors. In the master’s research that bases this article, semi-structured interviews were conducted with members of a support group for adoption and with professionals from public and private schools in a city in the interior of São Paulo. There were also participations in meetings of preparation of adoption suitors promoted by this support group. We emphasize in the analysis of this work the dangers of some practices that, even seeking to combat stereotypes, can strengthen them, requiring, in relation to the interventions performed as psychologists, the constant need to revisit their strategies and their effects. We defend the ethical direction of a work that strengthens ruptures in the ideal family conception contained in the practice of adoption.

En la investigación de maestría que basa este artículo, se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas con miembros de un grupo de apoyo para la adopción y con profesionales de escuelas públicas y privadas en una ciudad del interior de São Paulo. También hubo participaciones en reuniones de preparación de demandantes de adopción promovidas por este grupo de apoyo. En el análisis de este trabajo, destacamos el peligro de algunas prácticas que, buscando combatir los estereotipos, pueden fortalecerlos, requiriendo, en relación con las intervenciones realizadas como psicólogos, la necesidad constante de revisar sus estrategias y sus efectos. Defendemos la dirección ética de un trabajo que fortalece las rupturas en la concepción ideal de la familia contenida en la práctica de la adopción.O objetivo deste artigo é analisar, a partir do contexto jurídico da adoção no Brasil, alguns elementos presentes nas forças em jogo na prática de preparar as famílias que pretendem adotar, dando relevo às atividades de orientação realizadas por psicólogos a esses pretendentes. Na pesquisa de mestrado que embasa este artigo, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com membras de um grupo de apoio à adoção e com profissionais de escolas públicas e particulares em uma cidade do interior paulista. Também houve participações em reuniões de preparação de pretendentes à adoção promovidas por esse grupo de apoio. Ressaltamos, na análise deste trabalho, o perigo de algumas práticas que, mesmo buscando combater estereótipos, podem fortalecê-los, exigindo, em relação às intervenções realizadas enquanto psicólogos, a constante necessidade de revisitar suas estratégias e seus efeitos.
