The interfaces between popular education and education for youyh and adults: forming demands for practices with these groups

Resumo: | Popular and youth and adults education are subjects that may look like identical for the casual audience. In a general way, the arguments are that the target is the same and the responsibility of those who dedicate themselves to these activities only reduces the drama of unprivileged population that were not able to attend school at the right age. This almost immediate identification between one and another and the social exclusion processes does not happen accidentaly. However, for educators who dedicate themselves to these modalities, despite their similarities, including their own paths, these are not the same kind of practices, neither the same people. What binds them is their origins and the fact that they are both secondary themes of political-educational interests in all of the last brazilian governments. The identification of concrete problems, epistemological, political and social in the pedagogical propositions and practices, still has not produced new government policies neither the recognition of the necessary changes. We still have to discover and create new acting ways closer and more compatible to our discourses and new ways to make policies and education that will contribute for democracy, horizontalization of relationships between different social groups and social emancipation. |

Grosso modo, a argumentação é a de que o público-alvo é o mesmo e a responsabilidade de quem se dedica a essas modalidades educativas seria, sobretudo, a de reduzir o “drama” das populações desfavorecidas que não puderam frequentar a escola no tempo certo. Essa quase imediata identificação entre a educação popular, a EJA e os processos sociais de exclusão não ocorre por acaso. No entanto, para educadores que se ocupam dessas modalidades, em que pese o fato de elas se assemelharem, inclusive em suas trajetórias históricas, não se trata do mesmo tipo de prática educativa e nem, necessariamente do “mesmo” público. O que as une é sua origem e o fato de serem, ambas, tema secundário em relação aos interesses políticoeducativos efetivamente abraçados pelos sucessivos governos do país. A identificação de problemas concretos, de origem epistemológica, política e social das propostas e práticas pedagógicas ainda não produziu novas políticas ou um reconhecimento ampliado das mudanças necessárias.
