The objective of this article is to analyze how the annual meetings of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC) were presented in the articles of the newspaper Folha de São Paulo between the years 1964 to 1985, in the midst of the military dictatorship that devastated the country. The main questions are what is the highlight given to the event by the newspaper and what subjects gained emphasis among the works presented at the event. The choice of this newspaper was due to the fact that it was one of the vehicles with the greatest impact in São Paulo. The survey and analysis of these articles allow the elaboration of a mapping of the newspaper’s position in relation to the annual meetings of the SBPC and the value given to the coverage of Science & Technology at a time of repression and the beginning of the redemocratization process.
