Resumo: OBJECTIVE: Supernumerary teeth (ST) are associated with many complications that include tooth impaction, ectopic eruption, and abnormal development of root. The usual treatment is the extraction, although repositioning in the dental arch may sometimes be an alternative. The present study reports the treatment of a case of multiple supernumerary teeth in a non-syndromic patient.CASE DESCRIPTION: A 16-year-old male patient presented two ST in each side of the jaw, detected by panoramic radiography. Syndromes or systemic diseases were not revealed by the anamnesis/ general health history. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) showed that the teeth were positioned in the lingual region between the inferior premolars at both right and left sides. Surgical therapy was the treatment of choice, in order to avoid possible eruption.CONCLUSION: An early and accurate diagnosis is extremely important for treatment decision and success, thus avoiding future complications often related to ST.

Palavras-chave: Dentes supranumerários, Anomalia dental, Mal oclusão, Hyperdontia.EDIPUCRS - Editora Universitária da PUCRS2018-12-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPeer-reviewed Articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/article/view/2981410.15448/1980-6523.2018.1.29814Revista Odonto Ciência; Vol. 33 No. 1 (2018); 112-116Revista Odonto Ciência; v. 33 n. 1 (2018); 112-1161980-65230102-946010.15448/1980-6523.2018.1reponame:Revista odonto ciência (Online)instname:Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)instacron:PUC_RSenghttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/article/view/29814/17897Copyright (c) 2019 Revista Odonto Ciênciainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLima, Paula Loures ValleLima, Francisco Loures ValleRodriguez, Christian Giancarlo BernalIglecias, Elaine FagaFrancisconi-dos-Rios, Luciana Fávaro2019-04-24T17:19:21Zoai:ojs.revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br:article/29814Revistahttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/foPRIhttps://revistaseletronicas.pucrs.br/ojs/index.php/fo/oai||odontociencia@pucrs.br1980-65230102-9460opendoar:2019-04-24T17:19:21Revista odonto ciência (Online) - Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS)false
