Resumo: Purpose: The present in vitro study aimed to compare the filling quality of artificial lateral and secondary canals using three obturation techniques and two endodontic sealers. Methods: The sample was composed of sixty human monoradicular teeth randomly divided into six experimental groups: lateral condensation and Endofill (I); lateral condensation and Sealer 26 (II); hybrid technique and Endofill (III); hybrid technique and Sealer 26 (IV); Thermafil system and Endofill (V); Thermafil system and Sealer 26 (VI). The obturation quality of simulated lateral and secondary canals was evaluated using a stereomicroscope and classified according to a four-score system, considering the material filling length in the canal ramification. Results: The obturation techniques and endodontic sealers did not influence quality of canal filling at 2, 4 and 6mm from the apex. For canal filling at 8mm from the apex group IV showed the best results and was significantly different from groups I and III; groups V and VI also had significantly better filling than group I. The canal location did not influence intra-group obturation quality. Conclusions: The results suggest that the obturation technique and sealer affected filling quality of lateral and secondary canals only at 8mm from the apex. Key words: Dental pulp; root canal obturation; dental cements; Endodontics

Key words: Dental pulp; root canal obturation; dental cements; EndodonticsObjetivo: O presente estudo in vitro comparou a obturação de canais laterais e secundários artificiais utilizando três técnicas obturadoras e dois cimentos endodônticos.
