Resumo: This paper presents reflections on the role of the Gerontologist in Palliative Care (PC), based on a university course. The aim is to present a panorama about PC and the relation with the formation of the Gerontologist, besides describing how was the development of the course, and to reflect on the role of this professional in different levels of management in PC. The reflections showed that the Gerontologist can play a key role in CP, performing in the management and evaluation of public policies, in specialized services or not, and directly with the patient, caregivers and social support network, always with the entire multiprofessional team.

El objetivo de este documento es presentar un panorama sobre el PC y la relación con la formación del gerontólogo, cómo describir el desarrollo del curso y reflejar el rol de este profesional en diferentes niveles de administración en el PC. Las reflexiones evidenciaron que el gerontólogo puede tener un papel integral en los CP, actuando en la gestión y evaluación de políticas públicas, en los servicios especializados o no, y directamente con el paciente, cuidadores y red de soporte social, siempre en conjunto con el equipo multiprofesional. Este artigo apresenta reflexões sobre o papel do Bacharel em Gerontologia em Cuidados Paliativos (CP), com base em uma disciplina sobre o tema. Tem o objetivo de apresentar um panorama sobre os CP e a relação com a formação do Bacharel em Gerontologia, além de descrever como foi o desenvolvimento de disciplina sobre o tema, e refletir sobre possibilidades de atuação desse profissional nos diferentes níveis de gestão em CP.
