Resumo: The present study conducted with retired residents from the city of Rio Claro-SP analyzed the level of leisure-time physical activity and the body mass index (BMI) over the prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCD). The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the BMI were used to measure the variables. It was observed a relationship between age and NCD with emphasis on hypertension (50.3%) and depression (37.0%).

It was observed a relationship between age and NCD with emphasis on hypertension (50.3%) and depression (37.0%). La investigación, realizada con jubilados residentes de la ciudad de Rio Claro, SP, analizó el nivel de Actividad Física (AF) en el ocio y el índice de masa corporal sobre la prevalencia de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles (DCNT). Para la medida de las variables, se utilizó el Cuestionario Internacional de actividad Física (IPAQ) y el cálculo del índice de masa corporal (IMC). Se observó relación entre edad y DCNT con mayores prevalencias para hipertensión (50,3%) y depresión (37,0%).A pesquisa, realizada com aposentados residentes da cidade de Rio Claro, SP, analisou o nível de Atividade Física (AF) no lazer e o índice de massa corporal sobre a prevalência de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT).
