Perception of Quality of Life in Elderly: Integrative Literature Review

Resumo: Brazil is experiencing a process of demographic transition because has been increasing the longevity of the human being, however, living longer does not necessarily mean living with more quality. In this sense, this study aimed to characterize the production of articles related to the quality of life (QoL) of the elderly, in the period from 2007 to 2017, in the databases SciELO and PePSIC. The integrative review was used to carry out the quantitative-qualitative descriptive study. We selected fourteen studies characterized in the categories: a) the subjective perception of QoL in old age; b) the various factors that influence QoL in old age; and c) the cognitive aspects that can intervene in the QoL of the elderly. It is concluded that there is a limited number of productions that articulate QoL in old age and Psychology, and that the subjective perception of the elderly is a significant way to learn about this phenomenon.

En este sentido, este estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar la producción de artículos relacionados a la calidad de vida (QV) de los ancianos, en el período de 2007 a 2017, en las bases de datos SciELO y PePSIC. Se utilizó la revisión integrativa para la realización del estudio descriptivo de carácter cuantitativo. Se seleccionaron catorce estudios caracterizados en las categorías: a) la percepción subjetiva de la CV en la vejez; b) los diversos factores que influyen en la CV en la vejez; y c) los aspectos cognitivos que pueden intervenir en la CV de los ancianos. Se concluye que existe un número limitado de producciones que articulan la QV en la vejez y Psicología, y que la percepción subjetiva de los ancianos es un significativo camino para aprehender sobre este fenómeno. O Brasil vive um processo de transição demográfica pelo aumento da longevidade do ser humano; no entanto, viver mais não significa necessariamente viver com mais qualidade. Nesse sentido, este estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar a produção de artigos relacionados à qualidade de vida (QV) dos idosos, no período de 2007 a 2017, nas bases de dados SciELO e PePSIC. Utilizou-se a revisão integrativa para realização do estudo descritivo de caráter quanti-qualitativo. Foram selecionados quatorze estudos caracterizados nas categorias: a) a percepção subjetiva da QV na velhice; b) os diversos fatores que influenciam a QV na velhice; e c) os aspectos cognitivos que podem intervir na QV dos idosos.
