Participaram neste estudo 203 sujeitos. Relativamente à orientação sexual 54,7 % dos participantes eram heterossexuais e 45,3% eram homossexuais. No que concerne ao sexo dos participantes 43,8% eram do sexo masculino e 56,2 eram do sexo feminino. Este estudo utilizou uma metodologia quantitativa. O instrumento utilizado é composto por: Escala de Vinculação do Adulto (EVA) que tem como dimensões ansiedade, conforto com a proximidade e confiança nos outros (Collins & Read, 1990, versão portuguesa: Cannavaro, 1995); Escala de Ajustamento Diádico (EAD), que inclui as dimensões consenso, satisfação, coesão e expressão de afeto (Spanier, 1976, versão portuguesa: Gomez & Leal, 2008) e Escala de Avaliação da Satisfação Conjugal em Áreas da Vida Conjugal (EASAVIC) com as dimensões funcionamento conjugal e amor (Narciso & Costa, 1996). Este estudo incluiu também análise de conteúdo a uma questão aberta. Os resultados indicam que nos heterossexuais não existe uma relação significativa entre a dimensão ansiedade (vinculação) e as dimensões da satisfação conjugal e que nos homossexuais não existe uma relação entre a confiança nos outros (vinculação) e as dimensões do ajustamento e da satisfação conjugal. Existem diferenças ao nível da orientação sexual nas dimensões do ajustamento conjugal e na dimensão amor da satisfação conjugal. Ao nível do sexo existem diferenças na dimensão conforto com a proximidade (vinculação) e na dimensão coesão (ajustamento conjugal). As dimensões do ajustamento conjugal são mediadoras na relação entre as dimensões da vinculação e da satisfação conjugal em heterossexuais e homossexuais. Os fatores centrípetos (aqueles que são gerados pela própria relação) são os que têm um impacto mais negativo na satisfação conjugal quer em heterossexuais e homossexuais.ABSTRACT: This study aims to study the relationship between the dimensions of attachment, adjustment and conjugal satisfaction in heterosexuals and homosexuals; To analyze how the dimensions of these variables behave according to the sexual orientation (heterosexual and homosexual), of the sex (Man and Woman); If the dimensions of conjugal adjustment are mediators in the relationship between the dimensions of attachment and marital satisfaction; And analyze the centripetal factors (those generated by the relation itself), centrifugal factors (factors external to the relation) and time (cycles and normative stages of life). Participated in this study 203 subjects. Regarding sexual orientation, 54.7% of the participants were heterosexual and 45.3% were homosexuals. Regarding the participants' gender, 43.8% were male and 56.2 were female. This study used a quantitative methodology. The instrument used is: Adult attachment Scale (EVA), which measures anxiety, comfort with proximity and trust in others (Collins & Read, 1990, Portuguese version: Cannavaro, 1995); Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), which includes the dimensions of consensus, satisfaction, cohesion and expression of affection (Spanier, 1976, Portuguese version: Gomez & Leal, 2008) and the Conjugal Satisfaction Scale in Areas of Conjugal Life (EASAVIC), With dimensions: marital functioning and love (Narciso & Costa, 1996). This study also included content analysis to an open question. The results indicate that in heterosexuals there is no significant relationship between the anxiety dimension (attachment) and the dimensions of conjugal satisfaction and that in homosexuals there is no relationship between trust in others (attachment) and the dimensions of adjustment and conjugal satisfaction. There are differences in sexual orientation in the dimensions of marital adjustment and in the love dimension of marital satisfaction. At the gender level there are differences in the dimension comfort with proximity (attachment) and in the cohesion dimension (conjugal adjustment). The dimensions of conjugal adjustment are mediators in the relationship between the dimensions of attachment and conjugal satisfaction in heterosexuals and homosexuals.
