Resumo: Over the past few years, the Telecommunication Service Providers's (TSPs) Network Service (NS)-based business model have drastically changed from traditional proprietary physical network appliances towards virtualized ecosystems which offer faster resource provisioning and improved flexibility while reducing both Capital expenditure and Operational expenditure. This new paradigm pushed both the physical network appliances' functionalities and physical and networking resources' management and orchestration into the software plane, leading to the creation of several Management and Orchestratrion (MANO) frameworks tasked with managing the lifecycle of NSs. Opensource MANO (OSM) is one of said frameworks and it is an Eletronics and Telecomunnications Strandards Institute (ETSI) Network Function Virtualization (NFV) compliant MANO platform capable of managing the lifecycle of both NSs and their composing Virtual Network Functions (VNFs). While this framework already has an acceptable degree of maturity, it still cannot fulfill some of the 5G future networks' usecases, namely those regarding inter-Point-of-Presence (PoP) NS orchestration. This work starts by analysing the current state of the art regarding NFV and NFV MANO solutions and research initiatives and technological areas encompassed by them, followed by a contextualization of the problem itself. Then, two solutions aiming to solve the problem of inter-PoP NS orchestration through OSM are presented followed by an overview a of their practical implementations. Finally, the results yielded by the tests performed are analysed, conclusions are drawn and possible future works are suggested.
