Resumo: This article seeks to inquire the place of God in contemporary Portuguese poetry. Counteracting the modern tendency for artistic secularization, poetic discourse is still persistently haunted by the presence of the divine. Whether confronted, repudiated or merely absent, God may be perceived in contemporary poetry, both as a subject of perplexity and disquiet, through an anti‑dogmatic hermeneutics which enables us to identify that «purer presence» in the poetic word which only apparently has ceased to accomodate transcendence.

Contrariando a moderna tendência para a secularização das artes, o discurso poético continua a ser um lugar insistentemente assombrado pelo divino. Interpelado, negado ou simplesmente ausente, Deus pressente-se na poesia contemporânea, como matéria de perplexidade e desassossego, exigindo a mobilização de uma hermenêutica antidogmática.
