Na minha infância, lembro-me de passar muito tempo com os meus avós e esta relação que estabelecemos foi e é muito rica, dada a influência e partilha mútua de conhecimentos. Esta experiência pessoal está na origem do meu interesse pelo tema das interações netos-avós. Elegi as crianças como população-alvo, pretendendo, desta forma, distanciar o meu estudo de grande parte das investigações que se centram sobretudo na opinião dos avós sobre a interação com os seus netos. Optei por um estudo de caráter qualitativo, com uma análise comparativa das interações entre dois grupos: o dos netos e avós que as crianças consideram mais próximos afetivamente e o dos netos e restantes avós. Para o efeito, realizei entrevistas semiestruturadas a 37 crianças entre os 10 e os 12 anos e procedi à análise de conteúdo dos seus discursos. Constatei a existência de diferenças significativas nas interações estabelecidas nos dois grupos anteriormente descritos. Os netos atribuem maior importância ao contacto com os avós mais próximos afetivamente do que ao contacto com os restantes avós. De uma maneira geral, os netos consideram ter uma relação extremamente próxima com os avós maternos porque passam mais tempo com eles. Os netos realizam atividades centradas nas crianças com os avós mais próximos afetivamente mas, com os outros avós, a maioria não desenvolve nenhuma atividade; apenas alguns desenvolvem atividades centradas em ambos. Aprendem comportamentos com os avós mais próximos e competências práticas com os outros avós mas, um número significativo de inquiridos menciona não aprender nada com estes avós. Falam de assuntos centrados nas crianças mas ensinam sobretudo competências a todos os avós. Definiram-se 4 perfis de crianças, tendo em conta a qualidade da relação e as características funcionais da relação intergeracional e o papel desempenhado pelos pais na relação netos-avós: os afetivos, os educadores/transmissores, os desinteressados e os auxiliares.The demographic and social changes and the increasing participation of the woman in the labour market and the financial crisis lead to opportunities for grandparents to assume a more important role in the family and in providing care to grandchildren. In my childhood, I remember spending a lot of time with my grandparents and this relation was and it is very important, given the influence and mutual share of knowledge. This personal experience is at the origin to my interest in the subject of grandparents-grandchildren. I choose the children as the target population, intending in this way, to distance my study from most of the research that focuses mainly on grandparents’opinion about interaction with their grandchildren. I opted for a qualitative study, with a comparative analysis of the interaction between two groups: that of the grandchildren and grandparents whom the children consider affectively closer and that of the grandchildren and other grandparents. For this purpose, I performed semi-structured interviews to 37 children between the ages of 10 and 12 and analysed the content of their speeches. I have noticed the existence of significant differences in the interactions established in the two groups previously described grandchildren perform activities centered on the children with the closest grandparents affectively but, with the other grandparents most do not develop any activity, only some develop activities centered on both. The grandchildren attach greater importance to the contact with the closest affectively grandparents. For the children interviewed, all grandparents represent the family. In general, the grandchildren consider having an extremely close relationship with their maternal grandparents because they spend more time with them. They learn behaviors, with the closest grandparents and practical skills with the other grandparents, a significant number of respondents mentions not learning anything from the other grandparents. They talk about children-centered issues, but they mainly teach all grandparents skills.
