Resumo: It has been a long time since the human being sought to adapt the environment in order to take some advantage of it. Nowadays, this demand can translated into lexibility. During the Modern Movement, many architects became aware of this demand, which kept them motivated to create solutions and methods that would make architecture more lexible, especially when it comes to the most private spaces, such as housing. here are many methods, they may be used individually - as a principal method, for instance - or even conjugated, and some methods are the result of a junction from some of these strategies. As a consequence, the constructive technology has also sufered changes to be physically able to meet the diferent developed strategies. Other factors besides technology were also inluenced, as the housing economy - particularly for social housing -, the way of interpreting sustainability, in the way the cultural diversity is faced, and regarding the importance of the inhabitant. Although lexibility inds several diiculties, it still proves to be important in geographic and social levels, which turns into an inclusive architecture. Mostly, these diiculties arise because of the stigma and preconceived judgements that some architects are trying to break and whose opposites they try to prove. Finally, several methodologies are addressed in order to allow for an objective assessment of some case studies that, in turn, seek to recognize the strategies that have been most widely spoken by the architects studied in this thesis.
