A colecção de pesos e medidas do Museu Regional de Beja : um projecto expositivo

O presente trabalho inclui, no âmbito da dissertação final da tese de mestrado em museologia, um estudo, inventário e projecto expositivo da Colecção de Pesos e Medidas do Museu Regional de Beja. Numa primeira fase abordamos a evolução dos pesos e medidas em Portugal a partir da idade média, período durante o qual persistiram os sistemas ponderais e nomenclaturas romanas e árabes. Seguindo-se as reformas de D. Manuel no domínio do peso e de D. Sebastião no domínio das medidas de volume para secos e para líquidos, que vigoraram até à introdução do sistema métrico decimal no nosso país, em 1852. Indissociável desta temática abordamos também o controle metrológico que se fazia, inicialmente, pelo poder real através do almotacé e, posteriormente, pelo aferidor municipal, figura que ainda hoje mantém funções um pouco por todo o país. Numa segunda face traçamos uma breve história da colecção, iniciada nos finais do século XIX, e as condições actuais da sua conservação. Realizámos um projecto de exposição para a mostra pública da colecção, devidamente contextualizada, no espaço e no tempo, numa interacção entre o objecto e a sua representação gráfica ou documental. São também abordadas algumas formas de divulgação e dinamização da colecção nomeadamente acções com o público mais jovem, visitas guiadas, maletas pedagógicas, catálogo, site, exposição itinerante, bem como a criação de um centro de documentação e investigação sobre o tema em estudo. Todo este trabalho pretende ser desenvolvido num Núcleo Temático, fora do edificio do actual. Museu, mas dele dependente. Finalmente foi realizado o inventário sistemático de toda a colecção. /*** Abstract - This essay includes, which refers the final lecture of the Master's degree thesis in museology, a study, an inventory and an exhibition of the Weight and Measures collection of the Regional Museum in Beja. Firstly we analise the weight and measures evolution in Portugal since the middle age. During this time persisted the weight systems and the roman and arabic nomenclatures. Afterwards took place the reform of the weight, during the reign of D. Manuel and the reform of the volume measures, during the reign of D. Sebastião, which were divided into dry and liquids. These were used until the introduction of the decimal metric system in our country, in 1852. Related to this theme, we also analise the metro logic control that was done, initially by the royal power, through the almotacé and later by the municipal surveyor, person, who still today, maintain functions a bit all over the country. Secondly we outline a brief history of the collection, started at the end of the XIX century, and the actual conditions of its preservation. We carried out an exhibition project for the public display of the collection, in context, in space and in time, through an interaction between the object and its graphic or documentary representation. We also defined some ways of showing in a dynamic form the collection, as for example specific activities, with the younger public, guide visits, pedagogical suitcases, catalogue, site, itinerant exhibition, as well as a documentation and investigation centre about the theme, that is being studied. This essay will be developed on a thematic nucleus, outside the building of the Museum, but depending on it. Finally it was done the systematic inventory of all the collection.
