Ma recherche propose une analyse historique de l'émergence et de l'évolution d'une structure architecturale singulière dans la plantation sucrière cubaine du XIXe siècle. Cette structure, destinée à l'enfermement des esclaves au plus fort de la croissance de l'industrie sucrière, était unique et était connue sous le nom de Barracón. Ce travail vise d'abord à exposer les valeurs intrinsèques de ce type de bâtiment disséminé dans tout Cuba, puis à proposer une stratégie de patrimonialisation de ce symbole macabre de ce que fut l'esclavage noir à Cuba. L'étude se penche également sur le caractère unique de l'esclavage des Noirs à Cuba, notamment au XIXe siècle, lorsqu'il était à son apogée, et sur les conditions socio-économiques qui l'ont motivé. Un espace est également consacré à l'appréciation des traditions culturelles qui ont émergé entre ses murs et qui font aujourd'hui partie de l'identité cubaine; Resumo: "El Barracón" de escravos, alojamentos e sepulcros na plantação de açúcar cubano no século XIX. A minha investigação propõe uma análise histórica acerca da emergência e da evolução de uma estrutura arquitectónica singular na plantação açucareira cubana do século XIX. Esta estrutura, destinada ao confinamento de escravos durante o período de maior crescimento da indústria açucareira, era única e era conhecida como o Barracón. Este trabalho visa, em primeiro lugar, expor os valores intrínsecos deste tipo de edifício espalhado por Cuba e depois propor uma estratégia para a patrimonialização deste macabro símbolo do que foi a escravatura negra em Cuba. O estudo também reflecte sobre a singularidade da escravatura negra em Cuba, especialmente no século XIX, quando estava no seu auge, e as condições socioeconómicas que a impeliram. O espaço é também dedicado a uma apreciação das tradições culturais que surgiram dentro das suas paredes e que hoje fazem parte da identidade cubana; Abstract: "El Barracón" of slaves, housing and sepulcher in the Cuban sugarcane plantation in the nineteenth century. My research proposes a historical analysis of the emergence and evolution of a singular architectural structure in the Cuban sugar plantation of the 19th century. This structure, intended for the confinement of slaves during the period of greatest growth of the sugar industry, was unique and was known as the Barracón. This work aims, first, to expose the intrinsic values of this type of buildings scattered throughout Cuba and then to propose a strategy to preserve as heritage this macabre symbol of what was black slavery in Cuba. The study also reflects on the uniqueness of black slavery in Cuba, especially in the 19th century, when it was at its peak, and the socioeconomic conditions that drove it. Space is also devoted to an appreciation of the cultural traditions that emerged within its walls and that today form part of the Cuban identity.
