Resumo: In this thesis we propose to study the Casas António Neves, projected by Arménio Losa and Cassiano Barbosa, which consists of a permanent house in Vila Nova de Gaia and two holiday houses in Miramar and Vale de Cambra.We selected these buildings since they are examples of Modern Movement in Portugal - projected by two major Portuguese architects in this trend - and also because one of these buildings is located in my hometown.The historical approach to Modern Movement stems from the difficulty to understand the ideological and formal principles behind the design of the Casas António Neves. To suggest a coherent and conscious proposal of an intervention we had to understand the main assumptions of Modern Movement, as well as to study the theoretical basis and the restoration documents proposals since 19th century.
