Resumo: | Seed volume estimated from seed length and width alone using a published equation was compared with seed volume data for 690 species. Although the published equation holds far beyond the data range for which it was fitted, it could not provide accurate estimates for the whole range of seed volume abstracted from literature. Therefore a new equation was fitted implying a system of two equations to accurately estimate seed volume using only seed length and width. Rules to choose between the two equations are also presented. |
