Resumo: | This article presents the results of the research carried out at the archaeological site Lago Rico (Aruanã, Goiás, Brazil), regarding the agricultural aptitude for the cultivation of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz). The site was delimited by visual surface prospecting and soil samples obtained at four points, at three with intervals between 0-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 meters and in a natural profile in Horizons A and B. From the physical-chemical analyzes of the samples, the agricultural management by the system of coivara, the aptitudes of the soils, the characteristics of the relief and the requirements for the cultivation of that genus, and according to the bibliographic references, it is possible to observe values of minimum productivity of 6t / ha, that could supply a group of up to 40 people, for approximately 65 days. |

El sitio fue delimitado por medio de prospección superficial visual y las muestras de suelo fueron recolectadas en cuatro puntos, en tres de ellos con intervalos entre 0-0,20 y 0,20-0,40 metros, y en un perfil natural en los Horizontes A y B. Partiendo de los análisis físico-químicos de las muestras, y de acuerdo a las referencias bibliográficas del manejo agrícola por el sistema de “coivara”, de la aptitud de los suelos, de las características del relieve y de los requisitos para el cultivo de este género, y con base en referencias bibliográficas, se observaron valores de productividad mínima de 6t/ha que podrían abastecer a un grupo de hasta 40 personas, durante aproximadamente 65 días.Este artigo apresenta os resultados da pesquisa realizada no sítio arqueológico Lago Rico (Aruanã, Goiás, Brasil), referentes à aptidão agrícola para o cultivo de mandioca (Manihot esculenta Crantz). O sítio foi delimitado por prospecção superficial visual e as amostras de solos, obtidas em quatro pontos, três deles com intervalos entre 0-0.20 e 0.20-0.40 metros, e em um perfil natural nos Horizontes A e B.
