"Nessun dorma" – Digital Archaeology and the work of ARISE research group in pandemic times: an essay

Resumo: This essay aims to present my reflections on Digital Archaeology inserted in the Coronavirus pandemic context. It is undeniable that social distancing has brought changes to the Academia in the world and in Brazil: we had to adapt (often without adequate knowledge for this). Thus, this text contains opinions about the way that we archaeologists use internet cyberspace to reach our dialogue with the general public, as well as the impact on teaching practice today. For that, I use as an example the actions developed by the CNPq Research Group – Interactive Archaeology and Electronic Simulations (ARISE), which, during the pandemic, have been focusing on these (not so) new means of communication.

Este ensayo tiene como objetivo presentar mis reflexiones sobre la Arqueología Digital inserta en el contexto de la pandemia del Coronavirus. Es innegable que el distanciamiento social trajo cambios a la Academia del mundo y de Brasil: tuvimos que adaptarnos (muchas veces sin los conocimientos adecuados). De esta forma, este texto contiene opiniones sobre la forma en que los arqueólogos utilizamos el ciberespacio de internet para lograr nuestro diálogo con el público en general, así como el impacto en la práctica docente en la actualidad. Para ello, pongo como ejemplo las acciones desarrolladas por el Grupo de Investigación CNPq – Arqueología Interactiva y Simulaciones Electrónicas (ARISE) que, durante la pandemia, se ha centrado en estos (no tan) nuevos medios.            Este ensaio tem como objetivo apresentar minhas reflexões sobre a Arqueologia Digital inserida no contexto da pandemia do Coronavírus. É inegável que o distanciamento social trouxe mudanças para a Academia do mundo e do Brasil: tivemos que nos adaptar (muitas vezes sem o conhecimento adequado). Dessa forma, este texto contém opiniões sobre a forma como os arqueólogos utilizam o ciberespaço da internet para alcançar nosso diálogo com o público em geral, bem como o impacto na prática docente hoje.
