Resumo: As we have been doing since 2010, in this issue we publish the best papers of SVR (Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality), that took place at Curitiba, in November 2017. The guest editors, Jauvane Oliveira from The National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC) and Fátima Nunes from University of São Paulo (USP) invited the best papers of the symposium to submit extended versions to this special issue. Seven of the selected best papers are presented in this issue. We would like to thank Jauvane and Fátima to their valuable contribution to JIS, and invite you to read the Guest Editors’ Note in the following. This issue also has a regular paper by Rúbia Ascari, Roberto Pereira, and Luciano Silva, from the Federal University of Paraná. In this paper, the authors present a systematic literature review on the use of mobile devices for Augmentative and Alternative Communication, aiming to compensate difficulties of verbal expression for people with speech disorders.Enjoy the issue!
