Birds of Paraty Festival (RJ, Brazil): project, event and tourism in favor of environmental preservation (2012-2016)

Resumo: : Paraty (RJ, Brazil) is a city composed of many tourist attractions and a calendar of events that occur throughout the year. The Birds of Paraty Festival is an event aimed at promoting the awareness of the local community about bird care. The present work aims at analyzing the Festival and the Birds of Paraty Project, evaluating, specifically, the project and its impacts. To this end, we conducted a bibliographic and documentary research, as well as used the collection of data from the application and analysis of questionnaires using the qualitative method, in addition to the contributions offered by the dialectical method. Based on the research, it can be affirmed that the Birds of Paraty Festival contributes to the strengthening of tourism segments, identified as ecotourism and nature tourism, due to actions to reduce the negative impacts of this activity and the involvement of the local community, promoting awareness and the desire to preserve the fauna and flora of the visited place (Paraty). The event's proposal highlights the aim of stimulating the conservation of the environment, based on environmental education, using as the main instrument the reflection and practice of bird watching.

O Festival Aves de Paraty é um evento que visa à promoção da conscientização da comunidade local sobre o cuidado com as aves. O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar o Festival e o Projeto Aves de Paraty, avaliando, especialmente, o projeto e seus impactos. Para tanto, recorreu-se ao uso de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, bem como o levantamento de dados a partir da aplicação e da análise de questionários utilizando o método qualitativo, acrescido das contribuições oferecidas pelo método dialético. Diante da pesquisa realizada, pode-se afirmar que o Festival Aves de Paraty contribui para o fortalecimento dos segmentos de turismo, identificados como ecoturismo e o turismo de natureza, devido às ações em prol da diminuição dos impactos negativos desta atividade e do envolvimento da comunidade local, promovendo a conscientização e o desejo de preservação da fauna e flora do local visitado (Paraty).
