Resumo: | The discussion about education and ethnic-racial relations is crystallized in Brazilian Social Sciences (HASENBALG, 1992; MUNANGA, 2000; GOMES, 2012; CARNEIRO, 2005) and its debate is relevant to this day, however the approach to the white subject in the debate about race is increasingly necessary and is the motivation for critical studies of whiteness. What are the perceptions of being a white person in this space? Is there any dimension of need in this location? In this sense, the article's motto is to think about the reality of education in Ceará from the conception of whiteness, in a qualitative research with a participant observation method (CERVO; BERVIAN, 1983; CRESWELL, 2012), seeking understanding within the geographic space of two public high schools in Ceará, one in the city of Fortaleza and the other in Maracanaú, ethnic-racial relations from the perspective of self-declared white students, as well as reports from teachers, in order to assess the presence of the narcissistic pacts of whiteness (BENTO, 2002) and how this student body perceives its material and symbolic privileges (SCHUCMAN, 2020). |
