Resumo: Purpose: to describe de functional developement of swallowing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients with COVID-19, who were submitted to a swallowing intervention. Method: participants of the study were 77 patients (both gender, mean age 53.4±15.9; score on the Glasgow Coma Scale ≥14 and stable respiratory condition). The functional scale of swallowing used for assessment was the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association National Outcome Measurement System (ASHA NOMS). Results: the results indicate that there was a significant recovery of the functional swallowing patterns when comparing the measurements pre and post swallowing intervention. Conclusion: 83% of the patients needed up to 3 swallowing interventions to recover a safe swallowing pattern.

SciELO PreprintsSciELO PreprintsSciELO Preprints2020-07-29info:eu-repo/semantics/preprintinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/preprint/view/103710.1590/SciELOPreprints.1037porhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/article/view/1037/1484Copyright (c) 2020 Maíra Santilli, Fernanda Sassi, Gisele Medeiros, Ana Ritto, Claudia Andradehttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSantilli, MaíraSassi, FernandaMedeiros, GiseleRitto, AnaAndrade, Claudiareponame:SciELO Preprintsinstname:SciELOinstacron:SCI2020-07-29T17:30:10Zoai:ops.preprints.scielo.org:preprint/1037Servidor de preprintshttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scieloONGhttps://preprints.scielo.org/index.php/scielo/oaiscielo.submission@scielo.orgopendoar:2020-07-29T17:30:10SciELO Preprints - SciELOfalse
