Effect of seeder displacement velocity and horizontal seed plate distributor on sorghum fodder (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) emergence and productivity

Resumo: An experiment in randomized blocks with three replications was carried out to verify the effect of different seeder displacement velocity (3, 5 and 7 km/h) and kind of cell horizontal seed plate distributor (lateral and circular cells) on the emer- gence and productivity of sorghum fodder. Plant population was smaller for the largest speeds and for the horizontal seed plate distributor with circular cells. Plant distribution was affected by the sowing speed. The increase of speed reduced the plant height and the production of sorghum fodder dry matter at 60 days after sorghum sowing, not affecting the total production of dry matter (sorghum plus weeds). Grain yield decreased lineally with the increase in speed, being also smaller for the horizontal seed plate distributor with circular cells. Best performance in sorghum fodder sowing was obtained using lateral cell plate seed distributor and working at 3 km/h.

Best performance in sorghum fodder sowing was obtained using lateral cell plate seed distributor and working at 3 km/h.Objetivando verifi car o efeito de diferentes velocidades de deslocamento da semeadora (3, 5 e 7 km/h) e tipos de disco perfurado horizontal (furos laterais e furos circulares) no estabelecimento e produtividade do sorgo forrageiro, conduziu-se um experimento em blocos ao acaso com três repetições. A população de plantas foi menor nas maiores velocidades e para o disco com furos circulares. A distribuição das plantas foi afetada pela velocidade de semeadura. O aumento da velocidade diminuiu a altura e a produção de massa seca de sorgo forrageiro aos 60 dias após a semeadura, não infl uenciando a produção total de massa seca (sorgo e invasoras). A produtividade de sementes decresceu linearmente com o aumento da velocidade, sendo menor para o disco de furos circulares. O melhor desempenho na semeadura de sorgo forrageiro foi obtido com a utilização do disco de furos laterais e velocidade de deslocamento de 3 km/h.
