Resumo: OBJECTIVE: Identify within the literature which are the scientific evidences about the palliative care enacted by nurses to the patient with cancer. METHODOLOGY: Integrative literature review, carried out in LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE / PUBMED, CINAHL and Web of Science databases. Included in the study, original articles available in full, published between the years 2015 and 2019, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Controlled descriptors were used: nursing care; palliative care; cancer; neoplasms and their respective: nursing care; palliative care; neoplasms. RESULTS: It was obtained a final sample of 16 articles, from which the greater number of publications was published in the year of 2017, with a predominance of qualitative studies, in the databases LILACS and BDENF. As for the evidence level, it was observed that the majority of the analysed studies presented evaluation IV. The studies were selected according to author, publication year, periodicals, objectives, title and level of evidence. From the analysis of the articles, it was possible to observe the prevalence of palliative care related to pain relief and symptoms, as well as care surrounding the promotion of quality of life of the patients with cancer under palliative care. CONCLUSION: It was possible to verify the necessity that the nurse needs to have sufficient knowledge to assist wholly to the patient with cancer under palliative care and yet offer support to the relatives, being as such apt/capacitated to approach, assess and care with the purpose of guaranteeing qualified and effective assistance to this clientele.
