Introduction: Cardiorespiratory arrest (CRP) is a more frequent cause in intensive care units. Due to its complexity, it is necessary that the nursing team be trained and updated to act. For, the nurse is the first to identify, most of the times, requests the presence of the team and initiates the cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. Objective: to verify in the literature the actions of the nurse in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Method: it is an integrative review, carried out in databases Scielo and Lilacs, through the descriptors: cardiopulmonary resuscitation, newborn, nursing care, neonatal nursing, respiratory arrest and neonatal intensive care unit. The search resulted in 106 articles, which after the inclusion criteria: scientific studies in full, in Portuguese language, published between 2013 to 2020, free and free access and that attend the theme, those that did not meet these criteria were excluded. After refinement the research was carried out with 03 articles. Results: it is evident that despite the nurses' technical ability to develop CPM maneuvers, the fragility of their scientific knowledge can still be observed. Since the lack of protocols of the institution prevents the assistance provided is accurate and systematized. Conclusion: Given this, it is evident the need for a stimulus and encouragement within the process of permanent education, stressing the optimization of care and the quality of life of the hospitalized baby.
