O THE PROTAGONISM OF NURSING IN URGENCY AND EMERGENCY FACING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Resumo: To describe the role of nursing in facing the COVID-19 pandemic in an urgency and emergency unit in the city of Belém- Pará. Methods: Descriptive field research, carried out in an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), located in the city of Belém-Pará. 19 nurses from the morning, afternoon and night shifts participated in the research, being 13 women and six men. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and content analysis was performed qualitatively. Results: Four thematic categories emerged from the data: nurses on the front line of the covid-19 pandemic in an emergency care unit in Belém-Pará; the role of nursing in the front line in the fight against covid-19; the valuation of nursing in the pandemic and the role of social media: hero or slave? Challenges for nurses on the front lines of the covid-19 pandemic, through which the results were described. Final considerations: The present study evidenced nursing care as the basis for nurses' protagonism in the front line of patient care with COVID-19.

Métodos: Investigación descriptiva de campo, realizada en una Unidad de Atención de Emergencia (UPA), ubicada en la ciudad de Belém-Pará. Participaron de la investigación 19 enfermeros de los turnos de mañana, tarde y noche, siendo 13 mujeres y seis hombres. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas y el análisis de contenido se realizó de forma cualitativa. Resultados: De los datos surgieron cuatro categorías temáticas: enfermeros en la primera línea de la pandemia de covid-19 en una unidad de atención de emergencia en Belém-Pará; el papel de la enfermería en primera línea en la lucha contra el covid-19; la valoración de la enfermería en la pandemia y el papel de las redes sociales: ¿héroe o esclavo? Desafíos para las enfermeras en la primera línea de la pandemia de covid-19, a través del cual se describieron los resultados. Consideraciones finales: El presente estudio evidenció el cuidado de enfermería como base para el protagonismo del enfermero en la primera línea de atención al paciente con COVID-19.Descrever o protagonismo da enfermagem no enfrentamento da pandemia da COVID-19 em uma unidade de urgência e emergência no município de Belém- Pará. Métodos: Pesquisa de campo, descritiva, realizada em uma Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA), localizada no município de Belém-Pará. Participaram da pesquisa, 19 enfermeiros do turno da manhã, tarde e noite, sendo 13 mulheres e seis homens. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e a análise de conteúdo de forma qualitativa. Resultados: Emergiram dos dados quatro categorias temáticas: os enfermeiros da linha de frente da pandemia covid-19 em uma unidade de pronto atendimento Belém- Pará; o protagonismo da enfermagem na linha de frente ao combate a covid-19; a valorização da enfermagem na pandemia e o papel das mídias sociais: herói ou escravo? Desafios dos enfermeiros na linha de frente da pandemia da covid-19, por meio das quais os resultados foram descritos.
