Pode se apresentar de forma mais severa como o Tromboembolismo Pulmonar (TEP) e a Trombose Venosa Profunda (TVP), os quais são capazes de levar o paciente a amputação ou óbito do membro acometido. A TVP pode aparecer de forma silenciosa ou devido às cirurgias de grande porte – apresentando sinais e sintomas no período do pós-operatório. O diagnóstico pode ser realizado de duas maneiras: na primeira, avalia-se clinicamente a predisposição do paciente para desenvolver TVP. Já na segunda, utilizam-se métodos laboratoriais, onde avaliam suas condições sanguíneas por meios não invasivos. A partir do Dímero D pode se avaliar, também, a predisposição do paciente em desenvolver trombos. Este trabalho tem o objetivo de discutir os aspetos etiológicos da TVP e dos avanços no diagnóstico, tendo sido realizado por pesquisas bibliográficas nas bases de dados do portal CAPES e leituras disponíveis na biblioteca da Universidade Católica de Brasília.The Venous Thromboembolism VTE is a pathology of the circulatory system, where total or partial obstruction of the blood vessels and arteries by means of a thrombus (clot) that affects both men and women, having a severe clinical course when not diagnosed and treated properly. Can present more severe as the Pulmonary Thromboembolism (PTE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which are able to take the patient death or amputation of the affected limb. DVT can appear silently or due to large surgeries-presenting signs and symptoms in postoperative period. The diagnosis can be accomplished in two ways: the first clinically evaluated the patient's predisposition to develop DVT. In the second, using laboratory methods, where their blood conditions evaluate non-invasive means. From the D-Dimer can also assess the patient's predisposition to develop thrombi.
