Resumo: Este trabalho traz como tema central a violência doméstica contra as mulheres. Essa forma de violência ocorre geralmente no espaço familiar e é efetuada por maridos, companheiros ou namorados. Casos de violência doméstica contra as mulheres vêm crescendo em nossa sociedade, principalmente a violência sexual e o feminicidio. Diante de tais circunstâncias, este trabalho tem como objetivo buscar conhecer os diversos posicionamentos de autores e autoras a respeito da violência doméstica contra as mulheres, entender de acordo com obras existentes como se processa a violência em nossa sociedade, compreender as principais formas de violência doméstica contra as mulheres e políticas de enfrentamento e descrever os aspectos sociais, históricos e culturais da violência contra as mulheres. Optamos pela pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, com levantamento de obras como livros, artigos, documentos e jornais relacionados ao tema. Com os dados analisados esperamos contribuir para o enriquecimento do estudo da temática, proporcionando referência de consulta para posteriores pesquisas.
