The specialized knowledge of the Early Childhood teacher of units of time: a formative case

Resumo: Interest in studies on the teacher’s knowledge for mathematics teaching has been growing in recent years, considering the challenges inherent to teacher’s training. In this article, we present an excerpt of a continued training, conducted online via Google Meet, in which we focused on identifying the evidence of the knowledge revealed by the answers of a group of primary school teachers about time measurements. We used the “Mathematics Teacher’s Specialized Knowledge” (MTSK) as theoretical reference. We collected the data from a questionary and from performed tasks that we registered for posterior analysis. The study revealed the challenges the teachers found in planning and reflecting on actions articulated with the literature about the teaching of time measurements, and their worries over the knowledge needed to fulfill this strategy in this learning stage of the children.

En este artículo, se presenta un extracto de educación continua, en línea a través de Meet, en la que se pretende identificar la evidencia de conocimiento en las respuestas de un grupo de maestros de educación infantil sobre las medidas de tiempo. Como marco teórico se utilizó el Conocimiento Especializado del Profesor de Matemáticas (MTSK, por sus siglas en inglés). Los datos fueron recopilados de registros de información, obtenidos desde un cuestionario y tareas que fueron analizadas posteriormente. La investigación desvela los desafíos que enfrentan los profesores respecto a la planificación y las reflexiones sobre temas vinculados con la literatura para la enseñanza de las medidas de tiempo, así como su preocupación por los conocimientos necesarios para llevar a cabo esta estrategia en esta fase de aprendizaje infantil.As investigações sobre o conhecimento do professor para o ensino de matemática nos últimos anos têm sido uma área de crescente interesse, tendo em vista os desafios inerentes à formação de professores. Neste artigo, apresentamos um excerto de uma formação continuada, on-line via Meet, na qual tivemos como objetivo identificar as evidências dos conhecimentos revelados nas respostas dadas por um grupo de professores da Educação Infantil sobre medidas de tempo. O referencial teórico utilizado foi o Mathematics Teacher’s Specialized Knowledge (MTSK). Os dados foram coletados por meio de registros das informações obtidas por um questionário e tarefas que foram analisadas posteriormente.
