Clothing historical illustration: from Schwarz to João Affonso

Resumo: | This article aims to present a chronology of illustrated works with a historical bias on clothing, since the publication of Trachtenbuch (1560), by Matthäus Schwarz. A set of works considered canonical will be listed because they present important aspects of the process of use and circulation of costume images, divided into categories: clothing books, costume books, habits engraving books, great illustrated books, romantic/historicist books and modern books. This mapping and classification, carried out in a doctoral thesis through bibliographic review and documental research, resulted in 35 works surveyed and a clipping with 25 books will be presented in these pages, in addition to the highlight of the book Três Séculos de Modas (1923), by João Affonso, a pioneering work of the genre in Brazil. This production helped us to reflect on how the construction of an imaginary about clothing was present in publications that will give rise to the field of clothing history. |

Se listará un conjunto de obras consideradas canónicas porque presentan aspectos importantes del proceso de uso y circulación de imágenes de vestuario, divididas en categorías: libros de ropa, libros de vestuario, libros de costumbres, grandes libros ilustrados, libros románticos/historicistas y libros modernos. Este mapeo y clasificación, realizado en una tesis doctoral a través de revisión bibliográfica e investigación documental, resultó en 35 obras relevadas y un recorte con 25 ejemplares será presentado en estas páginas, además del destaque del libro Três Séculos de Modas (1923), de João Affonso, obra pionera del género en Brasil. Esta producción nos ayudó a reflexionar sobre cómo la construcción de un imaginario sobre la indumentaria estuvo presente en publicaciones que darán origen al campo de la historia de la indumentaria.Este artigo tem como objetivo central apresentar uma cronologia de obras ilustradas com viés histórico sobre o vestuário, desde a publicação de Trachtenbuch (1560), de Matthäus Schwarz. Serão elencados um conjunto de obras consideradas canônicas por apresentarem aspectos importantes do processo de uso e circulação de imagens de trajes, divididas nas categorias: livros de roupas, livros de trajes, livros de gravuras e costumes, grandes livros ilustrados, livros românticos/historicistas e livros modernos. Esse mapeamento e classificação, realizado em tese de doutorado por meio de revisão bibliográfica e pesquisa documental, resultou em 35 obras levantadas e será apresentado nestas páginas um recorte com 25 exemplares, além do destaque ao livro Três Séculos de Modas (1923), de João Affonso, obra pioneira do gênero no Brasil.
