“Why can’t I make myself a work of art?”: emotional elaborations in Elke Maravilha’s performances

Resumo: | In this text, we investigate intersections between fashion, emotions, consumption, and performance from media materials collected about the life of Elke Maravilha. German, she arrived in Brazil at the age of six and had a meteoric career, from runway fashion shows to television. A celebrity established in the media scene, Elke drew attention on the runways for her unique style and the way she presented herself in fashion shows. On TV, she was a judge on talent shows and had her own talkshow. The article is methodologically oriented by cartographic studies. We produced, from the constituent sensibilities of Walter Benjamin’s cartographies, four constellations: 1) I want to draw attention; 2) Dionysian priestess; 3) necklace of wonders; 4) Elke in the artificial land. By investigating Elke’s aesthetic and performative dimension, we understand that the way clothes and props were used enabled an elaboration of the self and communicative expression. |

Alemán, llegó a Brasil a los seis años y tuvo una carrera meteórica, desde las pasarelas hasta la televisión. Una celebridad establecida en la escena de los medios, Elke llamó la atención en las pasarelas por su estilo único y la forma en que se presentaba en los desfiles de moda. En la televisión, fue jueza en shows de talentos y tenía su propio talkshow. Orientados metodológicamente por los estudios cartográficos, elaboramos, a partir de las sensibilidades constitutivas de las cartografías de Walter Benjamin, cuatro constelaciones: 1) quiero llamar la atención; 2) sacerdotisa dionisíaca; 3) collar de maravillas; 4) Elke en la tierra del artificio. Al indagar en la dimensión estética y performativa de Elke, entendemos que la forma en que se utilizaron las vestimentas y los accesorios permitieron una elaboración de sí mismo y la expresión comunicativa.Investigou-se neste texto intersecções entre moda, emoções, consumo e performance a partir de materiais midiáticos coletados sobre a vida de Elke Maravilha. Alemã, a artista chegou ao Brasil aos seis anos de idade e teve uma carreira meteórica, das passarelas à televisão. Celebridade constituída na cena midiática, Elke chamava a atenção nas passarelas pelo seu estilo único e pelo modo como se apresentava em desfiles. Na TV, foi jurada de programas de calouros e teve seu próprio programa. Orientados metodologicamente pelos estudos cartográficos, produzimos, a partir de sensibilidades constituintes das cartografias benjaminianas, quatro constelações: 1) eu quero é chamar a atenção; 2) sacerdotisa dionisíaca; 3) colar das maravilhas; 4) Elke no país do artifício.
