The article presents the results of an investigation in the field of the practices for initial K-12 teacher training. It intends to present representations about the factors that act as a barrier to the use and promotion of information and communication technologies (ICT) in professional preparation of future teachers for the pedagogical use of ICT. It is an interpretative descriptive study focused on trainers of two public universities in Portugal that train teachers. To meet the objective, twenty semi-directive interviews were conducted. In addition to the constraints in the training curriculum, there is evidence pointing to the difficulty for future teachers to experience and observe examples of ICT use, due in part to the lack of knowledge / training of the trainers themselves in the area and to manifested beliefs and attitudes that act as barriers to the promotion of their use.
