Resumo: Salinity of soil all over the drought Brazilian Northeast has caused low agricultural productivity of irrigated cultures. The aim of this research was to study five cotton genotypes (CNPA Precoce 1, CNPA Precoce 2, CNPA 7H, CNPA Acala 93/15 and Embrapa 113-Algodão 7MH) exposed to different amounts of salt (2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 dS/m-1 under 25ºC), cultivated in a greenhouse. It has been used different amounts of salt degree and different genotypes. The factor 5 x 5 has been adopted and three repetitions under total random delineation. Analysis was applied to the following variables: total height, fiber number and matter weight, yield fiber weight, plume weight, 100 seeds weight and fiber percentage. Results obtained in this research show how sensitive cotton yield is to amounts of salt in irrigation according to the variation of yield, with emphasis on fiber number and matter weight, yield fiber weight and plume weight which occurred over all groups of genotypes. Among these, cultivar CNPA Precoce 2 has suffered stronger effects to salt contents. The genotype CNPA 7H was the most tolerant.

The genotype CNPA 7H was the most tolerant.A salinização dos solos tem resultado na redução da produtividade das culturas das áreas irrigadas principalmente no semi-árido do Nordeste. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a produtividade de cinco genótipos de algodão (CNPA Precoce 1, CNPA Precoce 2, CNPA 7H, CNPA Acala 93/15 e Embrapa 113-Algodão.7MH) expostos a diferentes níveis de salinidade da água de irrigação (2,0; 4,0; 6,0; 8,0 e 10,0 dS m-1 à 250C), em experimento conduzido em casa-de-vegetação. Adotou-se o esquema fatorial 5 x 5, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com três repetições. Foram analisadas as variáveis: número e fitomassa de capulhos, peso de algodão em caroço, peso de pluma, peso de 100 sementes e percentagem de fibra. Os resultados obtidos indicam ser o algodoeiro sensível à salinidade, o que foi expresso pelas variáveis número e fitomassa de capulhos, peso de algodão em caroço e peso de pluma. Entre os genótipos, a cultivar CNPA Precoce 2 tem uma tendência a ser mais sensível ao estresse salino.
