Resumo: There is already a great number of practical experiences with agroecological transition in the coffee plant (Coffea arabica L.), in small properties at the South region of Minas Gerais state, which inspired this research. The experiment was installed in a coffee crop (variety Catua・Amarelo, spacing 4.0 x 0.7 m and 6 years) age located in Lavras, (Minas Gerais state, Brazil). After the first year of agroecologic transition, the effects of organic and conventional management in the nutrition and productivity were evaluated. The experimental design used was the lattice balanced 4x4 in factorial scheme 3x2x2 with five replications and four additional treatments. The used organic management is efficient in the supply of N, P, K, S, Ca, Mg, Mn, B, Zn, Cu, and Fe for the coffee plant in production. The treatments of organic management showed a similar productivity to the conventional one due to the existence of nutrient reserves in the soil.
