Resumo: Objective: To evaluate, according to therapeutic scheme, the cost with treatment and health indicators. Methods: We studied 121 diabetic patients (49 men and 72 women; age 60+8 years). The therapeutic scheme is consisted by the use of medications, physical exercise and diet. Medical costs were converted into monetary value (Reais). In addition it was analyzed: blood pressure, body composition and coronary risk. Statistical analysis was performed by the χ² test, Student’t test and ANOVA. Results: Group Exercise/Medications showed less spent on general practitioner and lower values of mean blood pressure; Diet/Medication Group (DMG) demonstrated lower costs with medical specialists and lower values for body mass index and coronary risk. Conclusion: Adherence to appropriate therapeutic scheme may be determinant for indicators of risk and cost.

Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2011-04-02info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTransversal studyEstudo Transversalapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/9172Journal of Physical Education; Vol 22 No 1 (2011); 111-118Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 22 Núm. 1 (2011); 111-118Journal of Physical Education; v. 22 n. 1 (2011); 111-1182448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporenghttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/9172/7519https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/9172/751375148684Codogno, Jamile SanchesFernandes, Rômulo AraújoRosa, Clara Suemi da CostaBueno, Denise RodriguesMonteiro, Henrique Luizinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:37:57Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/9172Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:37:57Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
