Summary: A theoretical basis for the teaching of Physical Education from the fist to 4th series of elementary school was elaborated This groundwork tried to recover the incorporated contents of Physical Education in so far as formally adopted in school education and by children and as an integrant part of social, cultural and historical life. A literature review evidenced the necessity of putting into practice a new type of Physical Education and of an urge to officialize classes of Physical Education in the 1st to 4th series of elementary school, taught by specialized professional in this area.
