Research in teaching has highlighted the need to contextualize the teaching of physics, as opposed to the cumulative presentation of content and the often exposed mathematical equations detached from context. Given this scenario, this research aims to develop a didactic sequence whose proposal is linked to experimental activity with problematizing bias, allied to the History of Science. The chosen historical episode is based on the studies of Luigi Galvani (1737-1798) about frog muscle contractions when subjected to the supposedly defined phenomenon of animal electricity. After Volta (1745-1827) performed several tests, with some modifications, he realized that electricity was linked to the metals rather than the frog muscles, concentrating his ideas on the metals used. In order to defend his hypotheses he develops some instruments that did not lead to the general acceptance of his propositions. With this he elaborates a stacking of discs, called the stack, which had more considerable effects than the previous instruments, being a premise for the development of current batteries. Then we describe the experiences of a third year high school class of a school in the city of Itatuba-PB, as well as the results obtained. Finally, we present our final considerations about the work developed.
