Resumo: The work of Ferdinand de Saussure was massively revisited, in 2013, the year of the centenary of the death of the Genevian Master. In fact, his linguistic production has always been the object of several studies since the publication of Course in General Linguistics, in 1916. This article brings to light the considerations of renowned linguists on the Saussurean work and its links with Discourse Analysis (DA), considering the notions of language sign and discourse sign. Among the various branches of DA, it is made an option herein for the Semiolinguistic conception of discourse, based on the work of Patrick Charaudeau, with emphasis on the concept of contract of communication. With the support of such theoretical support, media texts, verbal and non-verbal, will be analyzed in order to highlight the importance of linguistic signs – language and discourse signs – in the construction of meaning in such text genre.

Em verdade, sua produção linguística sempre foi objeto de estudos vários desde o lançamento do Curso de Linguística Geral, em 1916. Este artigo traz reflexões de renomados linguistas sobre a obra saussuriana e busca vínculos dela com a Análise do Discurso a partir das noções de signo da língua e signo do discurso. Dentre as diversas vertentes da AD, faz-se aqui uma opção pela corrente semiolinguística do discurso, tendo como base teórica a obra de Patrick Charaudeau, com destaque para o conceito de contrato de comunicação.
