A análise da percepção de risco e vulnerabilidade à partir da vivência dos alunos do Ensino Médio de Nova Friburgo RJ

Summary: On January 2011, a huge precipitation occurred during a few hours in Nova Friburgo County and caused landslides and floods of the rivers on the Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, resulting in a high number of deaths. Environmental problems have increased due to rapid urban growth, disorderly and concentrated. The environmental fragility of the region associated to the population s vulnerability found in this city a fertile ground. Dealing with students from the elementary level from two public state schools, with spatialities and opposing economic activities, this research was based on the fact that this region has been submitted to an extreme event. Our general goal was to analyze the children perception of the risk through their elaboration of a risk area map and the specific goals compared the risk points to landslides and / or floods observed by the students from the different schools and the official organs, as well as the vulnerabilities of populations at risk. Based on our Geography classes of the mentioned year, the use of geotechnology as an educational resource and the lectures attended at the Municipal Civil Defense helped the students to acquire and develop a more accurate risk perception. This observation was concluded by analyzing their questionnaires. To create the risk area maps, Google Earth was used after been obtained for free on internet. Although with technical and structural constraints inherent in schools, the use of this method in the classroom was well accepted and understood by the students. It was found that the students' perception was mostly coincident with the risk points of the official bodies and the different spatialities of the involved schools. However, some points revealed particularities of the students from each school. Comparisons of risk areas and observation of the most vulnerable populations were analyzed using the software ArcGis 10.0and data collected by the IBGE 2010 Census. Our results showed that the most vulnerable populations displayed different results with paradigm breaks after submission to a huge disaster. It will be necessary then that a disaster risk management can be created and reach school, as our children and teenagers represent and reflect their living community and can act as multipliers of information and knowledge. Thus, geography can contribute to prevention and reduction of risk with the Civil Defense as well as Environmental Education meeting UN (United Nations Organization) proposals for disaster reduction

Os problemas ambientais vêm aumentando devido ao crescimento urbano acelerado, desordenado e concentrado A fragilidade ambiental da região associada à vulnerabilidade da população encontra neste município um terreno fértil. Baseada na vivência dos alunos do 1º ano do Ensino Médio de dois colégios da rede estadual de ensino, de espacialidades e atividades econômicas opostas, esta pesquisa utilizou-se do fato desta região ter sofrido um evento extremo. O objetivo geral foi analisar a percepção de risco dos alunos através da elaboração, pelos mesmos, de um mapa de área de risco e os específicos, foram comparar com os pontos de risco a escorregamentos e/ou inundações observadas por eles, com os órgãos oficiais e entre as diferentes escolas, assim como as vulnerabilidades das populações ao risco. Com os conteúdos da disciplina Geografia para o referido ano, o uso das geotecnologias como recurso pedagógico e palestras junto a Defesa Civil Municipal, propiciou um maior desenvolvimento da percepção de risco pelos alunos. Esta observação foi feita através da análise dos questionários aplicados. Para a elaboração dos mapas de área de risco, utilizou-se o aplicativo Google Earth, adquirido gratuitamente via internet. Embora com restrições técnicas e estruturais inerentes às escolas, o uso deste aplicativo em sala de aula teve boa aceitação e compreensão por parte dos alunos. Verificou-se que a percepção dos alunos foi, em sua maioria, coincidente com os pontos de riscos dos órgãos oficiais e nas diferentes espacialidades das escolas. Porém, alguns pontos tiveram particularidades da vivência dos alunos de cada escola. As comparações das áreas de risco e observação das populações mais vulneráveis foram analisadas utilizando-se o software Arc Gis 10.0 e dados do Censo 2010 do IBGE. Nesta análise concluiu-se que as populações mais vulneráveis tiveram alguns resultados diferentes pós um grande desastre, com quebras de paradigmas. Faz-se necessário então uma gestão de risco a desastres que atinja a escola, visto que as crianças e jovens são reflexos da comunidade em que vivem, podendo atuar como multiplicadores de informação e conhecimento.
