This master dissertation has as its subject matter to expose the ideas of Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976) on the nature of conceptual transformations that happened with the sprouting of the modern physics. The theories of relativity and quantum mechanics generated serious debates about the relationship between its new concepts and those pertaining to classic physics, between theory and experience, and the role that concepts that were considered fundamental would have to assume, such as of space, time, properties and causality. In the first part, we show the way Heisenberg understands the history of the development of modern physics, as well as the varied characteristics of the problems that followed it. In the second part, we show Heisenberg s reflections on the relations between classic and modern concepts, while we analyze the ways in which these concepts influence a varied number of human activities. Finally, we offer some indications on how is constituted a problem to which Heisenberg continuously returns: that one which concerns the possibility of men orienting themselves in the world.
