Tornar-se si-mesmo por meio da fé: a existência religiosa em Søren Kierkegaard

This dissertation seeks to reflect about the individual existence as it happens inside the religious stage, one of the three existential stages conceived by Søren Kierkegaard. Such an existence fulfill itself in a life lived by faith, where faith is the way by which the individual relates with reality. Such reflection will be developed through three chapters. In the first chapter will be analyzed the first part of the work The Sickness Unto Death, released at 1849. In this analysis we will present and reflect about the main concepts of kierkegaardian anthropology, the human condition as a synthesis of previously given opposing elements, the self as such relation relating itself to itself, despair as instability among the elements of the synthesis and by which forms despair manifests itself. In the second chapter we will present despair as sin, bringing to our reflection a properly theological environment to the question about despair and the human existence, analyzing humanity not from itself but from its existence before God. Here, God is the criterion to the human Self. At last, in the third part of this work, we intend to present the knight of faith, paradigm presented in Fear and Trembling, released at 1843, as the one who is the image of the individual totally free from despair.
