This study investigates the cases of drug addiction as a new symptom, and the relation to the subjectivity of our time causing a questioning of the clinic and the direction of treatment. The change operated in the culture emphasizes the current master discourse as one that carries with it the mark of the decline of the ideals and identifications no longer set by a master signifier, but rather by the market, provoking a fierce need for a jouissance that promises satisfaction through the object, in this case the drug. In the case of drug addiction and alcoholism, the illusory completeness captured by a self-erotic jouissance deceives the symptom with the drug and mutes the subject. The result of the intermingling of the capitalist speech with the discourse of science in which the drugs are a commodity, the increasingly production unrestrained pushes to the widespread intoxication of difficult detoxification. With psychoanalytic orientation it is possible to establish a device that promotes this detoxification, by reinventing the case-by-case basis. Offer through the analyst's discourse, a void of meaning, of not responding, in that, by the speech of the subject, you can extract the drug's role in the psychic economy and the signifiers that mark its history. The debate on public policy and the role of psychoanalysis in public services should be guided by the uniqueness and the ethical dimension of jouissance with respect to universalizing proposal of public policy.
