Resumo: | The tomato crop is of great importance to the world population. On the other hand, it is a crop very sensitive to the conditions of climate, soil and temperature, besides being susceptible to many pests and diseases, thus necessitating alternatives that make cultivation feasible. Therefore, this work had the objective of studying the viability of cultivation of tomato grafted with other solanaceae in a protected environment. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse at the Centro de Ciências Agrárias of the Universidade Federal de Alagoas, in the county of Rio Largo/AL. Planting of the seedlings was done in polyethylene pots containing sterilized soil and tanned bovine manure. The experimental design was completely randomized, with three treatments (Santa Adélia tomato without grafting, grafting of Santa Adélia tomato with cherry tomato, and grafting of Santa Adélia tomato with jurubeba) and ten replications, each plot being represented by a bottled plant. Five variables were analyzed to evaluate the growth and development of the plants. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the significant differences between the results were determined through the F test (p≤0.05), and the means were compared by the Tukey test. The canopy tomatoes grafted on cherry tomato and jurubeba represent viable alternatives for the production of cv. Santa Adélia. However, the plant grafted with jurubeba showed higher yield of commercial fruits. |

The canopy tomatoes grafted on cherry tomato and jurubeba represent viable alternatives for the production of cv. Santa Adélia. However, the plant grafted with jurubeba showed higher yield of commercial fruits.CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoA cultura do tomateiro apresenta elevada importância para a população mundial.
